Online Registration Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does my child need to get their license?
Teenagers between the ages of 15-18 need to fulfill the following requirements:
a. 25 Hours Classroom Education
b. Six Hours Behind the Wheel with a licensed instructor
c. 50 hours Behind the Wheel with a parent (10 being at night)
d. Have a permit a minimum of six months
e. Be a minimum of 16 years of age

2. What is Driver's Education?
Driver’s Education is the classroom portion of a student's driving program. Driver’s Education can be completed in either four sessions beginning at 8:15 am and ending at 3:30 pm, or during vacations and holidays four days in a row between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm.

3. Do they stay in class for the whole time?
No, during the 8:15 am - 3:30 pm class there are two 10 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch.

4. What does Driver’s Education cover?
The State of California requires the following topics be covered in all Driver's Education Programs:
a. Rules of the Road
b. Psychology of Driving
c. Emotions and Attitude
d. Defensive Driving
e. Basic Car Control and Safety Features
f. Alcohol and Drugs
g. Signs, Signals And Road Markings
h. Insurance
i. Handling Emergencies and Travel Tips
j. The Automobile, It’s Construction and Care
k. Written and Drive test preparation

5. Is that’s all you do during class?
We show state of the art videos, use a Bond Driving School textbooks, give mock permit tests, worksheets, and have guest speakers.

6. Do the classes have to be taken in order? / Do I have to wait for a first session to start my child?
No. The classes are topic specific so they need not be taken in order. The student can start with any of the four classes, as they are on constant rotation."

7. What happens if my child misses a class?
If your child misses a class you will need to call to check to verify when that particular session is to be offered again. Our classes are on a constant rotation and most make-up classes can be attended by the student when the missed session is next offered; this is subject to availability and class size.

8. How Do I Sign Up?
You can pre-register over the phone with any of our customer service representatives. You may also register online at online registration.

9. What does my child need to bring?
Your child needs to bring pen, paper, lunch or lunch money.

10. Does my Child need a Birth Certificate or Social Security Card?
The only time your child will need their birth certificate or social security card is when you go to apply for the permit or the license test.

11. How Do I Pay?
Bond Driving School offers several payment options:
a. Pre-pay with Credit Card, Check or Cash
b. Online Payment and check by phone is also acccepted

12. Do I have to pay all at once?
All Payments must be in office prior to starting any program with Bond Driving School.

13. What does my child do when the classes are completed?
After Driver's Education is completed, your child will be issued a certificate of completion of Driver's Education and a certificate of enrollment in Driver's Training. Your child will need to take their certificates to the DMV along with their birth certificate, Social Security card, and a completed DL 44 form (application for the permit). Then they will take the written permit test. Once they obtain the permit, he/she will be eligible to take the behind the wheel part of the driving program.

14. What if my child has a learning disability?
At Bond Driving School, we will make every effort to accommodate your child. All our locations are wheelchair accessible. Beyond that, please inform the office staff so the appropriate accommodations can be made for your child.

15. Do you have a Home Study Program?
Bond Driving School Online Driver's Education is completed via the Internet and should be completed in about 22 hours.

16. Which do you think is better, Home Study or Classroom Education?
Both programs have their merits. We suggest the home study program for students who are self-motivated and can work independently, and lack the time required for the traditional classroom based Driver’s Education. Traditional classroom education has teacher- student interaction, videos, guest speakers, textbooks, hands on learning tools. Regardless of the environment, as long as the student applies himself, the information provided is substantial to gain the knowledge needed to obtain a driving permit/license.

17. Where are your classrooms?
We have classes in four different locations through out the Valley area.

18. Does my child have to take this class?
If your child wants to get their license before they turn 18 they will need to take the Driver’s Education classes. However, the exception to this rule is if your child is already 17 ½, he/she does not have to take the classes in order to get their permit, but your child can not get a license until they turn 18. Most insurance companies will give discounts if Driver’s Education & Training is taken.

19. How old does my child have to be to take Driver’s Education? Your child can take Driver’s Education at age of
14 years 8 months. But we suggest that they be at least 15 and and a few months. They are able to get their permit at the age of 15 1/2, it is best to take Driver's Education.
